Common questions

Does Cinch read my photo library?

No. When you tap "Choose from library", iOS shows you its own picker, running outside the app, and hands Cinch only the pictures you select. The app has no permission to browse your library and never asks for one.

How many clothes do I need before it works?

About ten pieces — enough for at least a top, a bottom, and shoes. Cinch tells you on the Today screen how many more it needs. More pieces means better suggestions, because there are simply more combinations to choose between.

Why does it suggest something odd?

Usually a tag is wrong. Open the item and correct its category, colour or formality — corrections take effect immediately. Beyond that, use the heart and cross on each outfit. Disliking with a reason ("not my colours", "too formal") teaches the app much faster than a plain dislike, because it points at the specific thing to change.

How long until it learns my taste?

It starts adjusting from the very first reaction, and around eight reactions is where the difference becomes obvious. Your profile screen shows what it currently believes about you, in plain English, so you can check whether it has got you right.

It says "Styling offline". What does that mean?

The outfits on screen are real and were built from your actual closet — that part runs entirely on your phone and works with no connection at all. What is missing is the written explanation, which needs the network. Suggestions remain correct for the weather and your plans either way.

Do I have to allow location and calendar access?

No. Both are optional. Without location, Cinch uses a default city and says so on screen. Without calendar access, you can still type your plans — "dinner at 7 then drinks" works just as well as a synced calendar.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Delete account. It removes every photo, every garment, your outfit history and your style profile, immediately. There is no form to fill in and no waiting period. It cannot be undone.

Where are my clothes stored?

In a private storage bucket that only your account can read, hosted in the United States. See the privacy policy for the full detail on what is stored and who processes it.
